UKHRUL: Kuki Inpi Manipur has condemned the arrest of seven villagers from Kholen village, including a church leader, by the CRPF in Kangpokpi district, and demanded immediate action against what it described as arbitrary arrests and excessive use of force against civilians.

Kuki Inpi said the arrests came amid the killing of six Kuki villagers, including two women, which it alleged was carried out by NSCN-IM. It further claimed that another woman succumbed to her injuries on Saturday.

The KIM alleged that the authorities had failed to take adequate action against those responsible for the killings while detaining villagers instead.

Kuki Inpi also condemned what it described as the use of force against civilians protesting over their rights and security. It alleged that live rounds were used against peaceful demonstrators and that vehicles, including that of journalist Kaybie Chongloi, were vandalised.

It then demanded the immediate release of civilians it described as being arbitrarily detained, a formal investigation into the alleged excessive use of force, and compensation for damaged property.

Kuki Inpi further warned against what it described as any future arbitrary action or violation of the rights of civilians.
