Kuki Tribal Union militant refutes claim of AR’s arrest of its 8 members in Karbi Anglong

Dimapur: The NSCN/GPRN in a press release Saturday said, the Kuki Tribal Union (KTU) militant group expressed its dismay over the news item regarding the surrender of eight of its KTU members on August 19, 2022 to Halflong Battalion of the 11th Assam Rifles (AR) at Dimasa Hasao, Karbi Anglong, Assam.

NSCN-IM release said, KTU refuted the claim of the Assam Rifles that the surrendered members are members of KTU. “As per official records they are not listed as members of KTU. It is the handiwork of the Assam Rifles to gain unqualified credit out of the surrender ceremony,” the release clarified.

It further countered, “It may be noted that one Tatar from KTU, Doulalsem Khongsai surrendered to
the 11th AR on the June 11, 2022. It is believed that he is hand in glove with the 11th AR to tarnish the good name of KTU by making the eight persons surrendered as KTU members. Doulalsem Khongsai is a person of dubious distinction who got himself elected as Tatar from the backdoor, without going through the official process to be proposed, endorsed and approved by KTU. Morally on the wrong side from the beginning he did not think twice as he himself surrendered to the Assam Rifles.”
