Kangpokpi, Jul 30: Determined to ensure no decision is made without the voice of its people, the Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) convened a public consultation in Kangpokpi on July 29 to address pressing concerns over the Meitei-Kuki-Zo conflict.

Held at the LNC Hotel, the Public Consultation Meeting saw participation from a wide section of the Kuki-Zo community. According to the Council, the event was aimed at seeking public opinion on “sensitive and pressing issues arising from the ongoing conflict with the Meitei community.”

The three-hour-long deliberation offered a platform for attendees to express their views, share concerns, and propose ways forward. KZC stated that the discussions concluded “on a positive note, with important resolutions being adopted.”

However, the Council has opted not to disclose these resolutions at this stage. “KZC has decided not to publicize the resolutions passed at the Kangpokpi meeting, as it seeks to broaden the consultative process,” the statement noted. “The Council firmly believes that such critical decisions must reflect the collective voice of the entire Kuki-Zo community.”

To this end, the KZC plans to hold similar public consultation meetings across other Kuki-Zo inhabited districts in the days ahead. Once inputs are gathered from all regions, a comprehensive resolution will be drafted and shared publicly.

The Council also extended its appreciation to the people of Kangpokpi, saying, “The Kuki-Zo Council expresses its gratitude to the people of Kangpokpi for their active involvement and reaffirms its commitment to inclusive and transparent decision-making in these challenging times.”
