World Meetei Council Felicitates 35 Students and 3 Achievers in Tripura

Agartala, Jul 26: In a heartwarming celebration of grit, glory, and grassroots achievement, the World Meetei Council (WMC)’s Tripura State Unit on Saturday felicitated the brightest young minds and esteemed contributors of the community. The “Shining Stars” ceremony was a powerful showcase of pride, potential, and community unity.

Held at Sukanta Academy Hall the event marked the Council’s 2nd Felicitation Ceremony, aimed at recognising meritorious Meitei students and honouring distinguished personalities for their service and excellence across fields. This year’s edition carried forward the Council’s commitment to uplift, inspire, and empower the Meitei community in Tripura.

As many as 35 students were awarded for academic excellence—21 students from Class X (CBSE, ICSE, and TBSE boards) and 14 students from Class XII (CBSE and TBSE). In addition to the student achievers, the Council honoured three eminent personalities—Dr. Sudeshna Sinha, Bijoy Laxmi Sinha, and Manish Datta—for their outstanding contributions to their respective fields and society at large.

The event was chaired by the President of the WMC Tripura State Unit, Haokhom Bankim Singha, who highlighted the importance of community recognition in building a strong cultural and educational foundation for future generations.

Delivering the keynote as Chief Guest, Principal of Tripura Medical College, Dr. Takhellambam Arindam Datta, lauded the perseverance of the awardees and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence in their academic and professional pursuits.

The ceremony was further dignified by the presence of social activist Mayengbam Nilamani Sinha, and Vice-Chairman of the WMC Chingsubam Nabakumar Singh both attending as Guests of Honour.

Former Ranji cricketer and BCCI Level-A Coach Mayengbam Tapas Kanti Sinha also graced the event as Special Guest, sharing his journey of discipline, determination, and breaking barriers.

Throughout the evening, the hall echoed with applause, smiles, and a shared sense of cultural pride. The “Shining Stars” ceremony not only celebrated academic success but also served as a reminder of the enduring spirit and aspirations of the Meitei community in Tripura.
