Moreh: The Kukis in and around Moreh town observed Black Day at HTC Moreh, Conference Hall today. This year, Moreh observed Black Day as Black Day for “Peace and Justice” to the victims of Kuki genocide.
Various community leaders including Tamil Sangam, Manipur Muslim Council Moreh (MMCM), All Community Development Organization Moreh (ACODOM), Gorkha Samaj and Kuki CSOs attended the program.
Speaking at the program, Jangmang Haokip, president HTC Moreh, said that, this year we observed Black Day for Peace and Justice for the victims of Kuki genocide.
“It is sad and unfortunate that even after 28 years, the government of India had been largely unresponsive to the demand for justice for victims of Kuki genocide,” Jangmang Haokip said.
In solidarity with the 1990s victims, all business establishments in Moreh bazaar halted their activities during the Black Day observation.
Every year, the Kukis observes September 13 as Black Day in dearly remembrance and in mourning for the families and relatives who were mercilessly slaughtered during the ethnic cleansing or the Kuki genocide of 1992 to 1997.
