CHURACHANDPUR: The Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights (KWOHR) organised a rally on Friday in Churachandpur in collaboration with the Kuki Inpi Churachandpur and other Kuki civil society organisations, protesting against alleged discrimination, bias and selective investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) against members of the Kuki-Zo community.
The rally began at the Koite Village Playground, where a formal programme was held and led by KWOHR secretary Lamneikim. A speech was also delivered by KWOHR president Ngaineikim. The rally then proceeded from Koite Village and culminated at Peace Ground, Tuibong.
The protesters held banners that read, “Put an End to Selective Justice”, “NIA, Why Pick and Choose?”, “Enough is Enough — Protect Kuki-Zo People” and “Government of India, Act Now”. Speaking to the media, Ngaineikim alleged that multiple cases of atrocities had been committed against Kuki-Zo women during the ongoing conflict and questioned why no action had been taken in such cases.

The protesters also submitted a memorandum addressed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah through the Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur, seeking directives against the alleged selective and discriminatory actions of the NIA against the Kuki-Zo community. According to the organisers, the memorandum also sought equal protection and the equal application of the law.
It may be mentioned that the rally held on Friday was not confined to Churachandpur district alone but was also organised in other parts of Manipur with a Kuki presence.
