Imphal: Lakshman Prasad Acharya was sworn in as the Governor of Manipur today. The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur, Justice Siddharth Mridul, in a ceremony held at the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan in Imphal.

The ceremony was attended by a host of dignitaries, including Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Th. Satyabrata Singh, Ministers, former Chief Ministers O. Ibobi Singh and Radhabinod Koijam, MLAs, Chief Secretary, Security Advisor, DGP, and senior civil, military, and police officers.

Following the oath-taking, Governor Acharya received a Rashtriya Salute and inspected the Guard of Honour presented by personnel of the Manipur Rifles and India Reserve Battalion.

Speaking to the media afterwards, Governor Acharya expressed his happiness at being among the people of Manipur and praised the state’s natural and scenic beauty. He prayed for the swift restoration of peace and urged the people to cooperate with open minds, work together, and ensure peace and prosperity for Manipur in the days to come.

Lakshman Prasad Acharya has officially assumed the office of the Governor of Manipur as of the forenoon of July 31, 2024. He extends his good wishes and greetings to the people of Manipur, a press release from Raj Bhavan said.
