Imphal, June 24: Leishangthem Nungshithoi Chanu, a promising young judoka from Manipur, has brought laurels to the country by winning the silver medal in the 52 kg category at the Berlin Junior European Cup 2025. Known for her technical finesse and fighting spirit, Chanu has been steadily rising through the ranks in international judo circuits and currently ranks among the top junior athletes in her category.
At the Berlin event, she advanced to the finals after a commendable win over Serbia’s Bojana Savic in the semifinals. In the final bout, she faced Germany’s Sarah Bothy and settled for silver after a hard-fought contest.

Celebrating her achievement, the Government of Manipur congratulate her in twitter and wrote, ‘Heartiest congratulations to Leishangthem Nungshithoi Chanu on her achievement. Her remarkable performance on the international stage has made both the state and the nation proud. This latest medal adds to her growing list of accolades, including a gold medal at the Istanbul Junior European Cup in May. She now sets her sights on the upcoming Taipei Junior Asian Cup in July.
