Liangmai Market Expands Across Manipur, Promotes Organic Farm Produce

Ukhrul, October 2: The Liangmai Naga market initiative, aimed at promoting organic farm produce and strengthening indigenous economic ties, has continued to gain momentum with its third successful opening in Manipur.

The first market was inaugurated on September 16, 2025, at the Ideal Club, Sagolband Tera Keithel in Imphal. Following this, the second edition was held on September 25, 2025, at Manipur University, Kiyamgai. On Thursday, October 2, 2025, the market opened for the third time at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai Yaipha Thouni Community Hall near NH-150, starting as early as 4:30 AM.

The Liangmai market showcases a wide variety of organic vegetables and farm produce from the Liangmai Naga hills, offered at fair and reasonable prices.

Organisers believe the initiative will not only boost the local economy of the Liangmai people but also foster closer ties among the indigenous communities of Manipur.

By promoting healthy food habits and encouraging cultural exchange through agricultural trade, the Liangmai market is emerging as a sustainable model of economic integration in the state, said Diphiu Prinmai, Co-Convenor Liangmai Imphal Market.
