Imphal: Child Climate Activist from Manipur Licypriya Kangujam who recently made headlines for disrupting the COP28 summit held in Dubai against continuation of fossil fuel was accorded a rousing welcome upon her arrival at Imphal International Airport on Friday afternoon.

Briefing the media at the airport, the 12 year old climate activist said she had apprised global leaders about Manipur violence during the recent COP28 summit.

Licypriya said, she plans to visit Churachandpur district and that she will be meeting with Chief Minister N. Biren regarding security arrangements for her.

Expressing concerns over widespread poppy cultivation in Manipur as a contributing factor to climate change, Licypriya said as a climate change activist she has raised awareness on the true nature of Manipur crisis during her speeches, media interviews and meetings with international leaders whenever she could.
