Lionel Messi breaks International title duck with Copa America win over Brazil

Published on

Messi and Argentina’s long wait for an International trophy ended this morning as Argentina won the Copa America with a narrow 1-0 win over Brazil. The win also brought to end a 28 year long drought for Argentina without a major international tournament.

Angel Di Maria scored the only goal of the game in the 22nd minute of the game lobbing past Ederson after being sent through on goal by Rodrigo.

Richarlison did equalise for Brazil early in the second half only for his goal to be disallowed for a marginal offside.

Lionel Messi, on top of lifting his first ever international trophy, walked away with the best player as well as the top scorer award of the Copa America 2020.
