CHANDEL: The Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School (MUGHSS), Japhou, Chandel on Monday celebrated the Annual Cultural Day 2026 at the premise of the school under the theme “Preserve, Protect & Promote Cultural Values”.
Declaring the Annual Cultural Day opened, KL Warson Anal, principal, MUGHSS, said the annual event was being held with a view to preserve, protect and promote cultural values, as highlighted in the theme.
He said students need to play a major role when it comes to culture. He maintained that students of the school had worked hard to make the day a success especially with the cultural exhibition stalls.

As part of the event, cultural exhibition stalls were presented by the four Houses of the school namely Red, Blue, Green and Yellow houses.
Opened by Pukhrambam Sarju Singh, vice principal of the school, the cultural items exhibited were of Tangkhul tribe, Meitei, Anal tribe and Monsang Tribe. The exhibition was judged by three judges, the results for which will be declared later.
The event began with an opening song presented by the teachers. And besides the exhibition, other items of the day included folk song competition, Rongmei Cultural dance and Maring War dance.
The principal, Kl. Warson Anal stated the school maintains diversity in unity and harmony throughout its endeavor to bring out academic excellence.
