Terming the incident “very unfortunate,” the statement expressed concern that such acts could reignite tensions between communities at a time when peace and normalcy are beginning to return to the region.

The Makhan area, inhabited predominantly by the Liangmai Naga community, reiterated its position of neutrality throughout the ongoing conflict in Manipur. The statement highlighted that the community had extended help to both Meitei and Kuki groups during the height of the unrest.

“This incident is an attempt to malign and tarnish our image, and we will not tolerate such actions,” the statement declared, warning that anyone entering the area with “evil motive or bad intention” would not be welcomed.
