Manipur: 200 fresh COVID cases detected in last 24 hours

Manipur recorded 200 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.  This update has taken the state’s COVID-19 case tally to 22,748. The casualty also rose to 232 with the death of a man from Thoubal district on Friday.

Of the total COVID-19 infections in the state, 19,620 are recovered cases. 
Meanwhile,189 patients were discharged on Friday after they recovered from the deadly viral infection. The recovery rate of the state stands at 86.24%.

This update means that there are 2,896 active cases of COVID-19 being treated at various Covid care centres. Among the active cases, 206 are personnel of the Central security forces.

As per a press release of the COVID-19 Common Control Room of the state government, of the 200 fresh cases detected in the last 24 hours, 114 are from Imphal West district, the worst affected among the 16 districts of the state.

The COVID-19 infection count in Imphal West district is increasing after the state Health authority launched a Targeted Testing drive in Wangoi assembly constituency of the district in the aftermath of the by-polls held in the AC on November 7.

After 95 persons were tested positive for the disease during the testing of one member from each household in this constituency, another 38 persons were also found contracted with the virus on Friday, official sources said.
