West Garo Hills under COVID night curfew till Dec 1

The West Garo Hills District Magistrate has extended the COVID-19 night curfew from tomorrow till December 1, 2020 from 10 pm to 5 am each day in the entire district.

This order will not be applicable to medical teams and officials on COVID-19 duty, MeECL, PHE, PWD, police and armed forces, fire and emergency, civil defence and home guard volunteers, food and civil supply department, PDS wholesaler/dealers and FCI staff, Tura Municipal Board, telecom, telegraph communication and IT services, NIC, press, print and electronic media, wholesale and retail pharmacies, National Highway and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL), telecom services.

These services shall strictly comply with all government issued protocols and procedures including social distancing along with limiting of field staff to the barest minimum.

Movement of vehicles carrying essential goods, security forces, medical equipment and shops for repairs of trucks on highways are also exempted but the drivers and attendants of these vehicles shall be subject to screening as per protocols.

The District Magistrate has advised everyone to wear facemask and covering the mouth and nose when coming out in an emergency is mandatory and spitting or smoking in public place is prohibited.

Violators will be penalised by the designated officers, who have been empowered under Section 2 of the Epidemic Disease Act, 1897.
