A Wikipedia user contributions with IP address 121.46.87.68 last updated on June 24, 2024 at 7:44 pm (IST), seems to have tweaked further, including removing the controversial map in question, a content on the below topic, Proposed states and union territories of India [Wiki link: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proposed_states_and_union_territories_of_India], under the topic Proposed states with over 40 place names listed under, among India’s officially recognized states:

“Kukiland is a proposed separate state for the Kuki people which began in the 1980s and re-surfaced in the aftermath of the 2023 Manipur violence. The Kuki State Demand Committee supported by Kuki National Army has demanded a separate state covering 60% of the area of Manipur, including Southern Manipur and surrounding areas of Sadar Hills.[91][92]”

The IP address 121.46.87.68 upon basic google search points to be part of China Unicom’s IP range, indicating that it is used for internet services provided by China Unicom. However, the same IP can be easily a handiwork of a VPN (Virtual Private Network) routing.

The jurisdictions of Ukhrul and Kamjong Districts; Tamenglong and Noney Districts; Senapati District, including vast majority of the Sardar Hills; Chandel and Tengnoupal Districts are claimed by the Nagas of Manipur as predominantly Naga district areas.

For the uninitiated, there are more Naga villages in Churachandpur district alone than in both Ukhrul and Kamjong districts combined. For context, the total number of Kuki villages in Ukhrul and Kamjong together is fewer than 10. Yet, the so-called “Kukiland” map falsely includes over 60% of these Tangkhul Naga-dominated areas as part of their claimed “imaginary territory”. Any independent or mainstream journalist is welcome to visit and verify these facts on the ground.

Exhibiting a belligerent approach to the Naga and Kuki bilateral tribal relationship, the newly formed Kuki-Zo Council has this imaginary Kukiland map as their official logo.

UNC stand | United Naga Council sets the record straight on Nagas’ Land in Manipur; No ‘Anglo Kuki War’ in history

The United Naga Council issued a statement on August 21, 2023, vehemently opposing the inclusion of “disputed” territory in the proposed Kuki-Zo administration. UNC had stated saying “the Nagas are taken aback by the blatant lies, lop-sided history, and fabricated information contained in every statement and memorandum issued by the Kuki-Zo community, which is tantamount to distortion of Naga history and insult to the Naga people.”

The UNC’s statement was in response to the memorandum submitted by the 10 MLAs of Kuki-Zo to the Prime Minister of India on August 16, 2023, demanding the creation of the posts of Chief Secretary and Director General of Police or equivalents.

The UNC then made its stand crystal clear: “With regard to land, the Nagas’ opposition to the creation of new districts in 2016 remains alive [the creation of 7 news districts by then then Government of Manipur under the leadership of then Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh] as an unfinished issue. Of the districts, the ones carved out from Senapati and Chandel districts are the handiwork of the Congress government’s appeasement policy carried out in the name of administrative convenience.”
