UKHRUL/IMPHAL: A high level security meet was held in New Delhi on Saturday afternoon chaired by Union Home minister Amit Shah over the prevailing law and order situation in Manipur.
According to reliable sources, security advisor to the government of Manipur Kuldiep Singh, Director General of Police Mukesh Singh, Director General of Military Operation, Assam Rifle Director General, CRPF DG and BSF DG attended the closed door meeting.
However, political observers felt that the meet was conspicuous by the absences of state chief minister Yumnam Khemchand and state home minister Govindas Khonthoujam.

Though it is not known exactly what transpired at the impromptu security coordination meeting, reliable sources indicate that the central government is minutely reassessing, reviewing and updating the evolving security dynamics in the strife torn state of Manipur.
Chief minister Yumnam Khemchand was flown by Army chopper to Churachandpur to attend the last rite of late Vungzagin Valte, Ex-MLA of Thanlon AC.
Valte who breathed his last at Medenta Hospital in New Delhi on February 20 last and his mortal remains was brought to his native place in Churachandpur via Mizoram the folliwing day.
It may be noted that Vate’s lifeless body was not laid to rest as the Kuki-Zo had placed a charter of demands to be fulfilled by the government.

Opposing the visit of chief minister to attend the funeral service of the departing leader, a shut down was called and shops and business establishments downed their shutters in Churachandpur town.
However, as the chief minister arrived at the funeral site at 11:30 am with Thanga AC MLA, T Robindro, sources said that Zomi people gave them a rousing welcome.
