Manipur COVID-19 active cases increase to 203 again

Imphal: COVID-19 active cases in Manipur rose to 203 on Saturday as the state reported 16 fresh cases opposed to nine patients discharged upon recovery.

The active cases in the state declined below 200-mark, that is, to 198 on Friday.

On Saturday, the state reported 16 fresh COVID-19 infections, taking the overall infection count of the state to 1,25,613.

With two more lives claimed, the fatality toll also rose to 1,995.

Of the two who succumbed to the viral disease, one was vaccinated with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine while both the deceased had comorbidities.

Both the deceased hailed from Imphal West district, the state Health department said, in its latest bulletin.

On Saturday, nine patients including five from home isolation were discharged upon recovery, taking the recovery tally to 1,23,415. The recovery rate stood at 98.25%.

The daily positivity rate of the state was 1.0% as the fresh cases were detected upon testing of 1,620 samples. The state has tested 14,45,766 so far.

No new case was reported in as many as 12 of the 16 districts of the state.

Eight fresh cases were reported in Imphal West district, six in Imphal East and one each in Churachandpur and Kakching districts.

As many as 4,876 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 in the state on Friday, taking the total number of doses administered so far in the state to 22,63,050.

Of these total, 13,09,736 were first doses while the remaining 9,53,314 second doses, the Health department said.
