Twelve deaths in the past 24 hours took Manipur’s COVID-19 related fatality toll to 908 even as the 748 new cases of the disease pushed the overall count to 56,576 on Tuesday.
The latest bulletin of the state Health department also reported 579 recoveries that took the cumulative number of recoveries to 46,527.
The number of active cases also rose to 9,141 with the state’s 82.23% recovery rate.
The new cases were detected while testing 8,928 samples in the past 24 hours. Today’s positive rate was 8.38%, the lowest rate since the state ramped up its testing on June 1 last.
As per the state bulletin of the state health department, all the 748 new cases were detected from the general population with 379 of them being women.
As per the bulletin, Imphal West accounted for 205 of the total fresh cases and four of the 12 deaths, while Imphal East district reported 162 and four deaths.
Of the remaining fresh cases, Thoubal district reported 120, 63 in Bishnupur, 52 in Kakching and 66 in Churachandpur. Other districts reported below 20-mark or nil.
Besides four deaths each reported in Imphal West and Imphal East district, two deaths were reported in Churachandpur and one each in Thoubal and Bishnupur districts.
