Manipur Covid-19 update 5444: Death now 24

UT News Service | Imphal, Aug 25: Two more Covid-19 patients died in the past 24 hours. This update brings COVID-19 related death cases in Manipur to 24.

Both the deceased women, aged 73 years and 41 years, died at RIMS hospital, said an official source in the state Health department.

COVID-19 cases in Manipur rose to 5,444 on Tuesday as 82 fresh cases were detected during testing of 1,985 samples in the last 24 hours. Among the 82 fresh cases, eight are personnel of the Central security forces while 70 of the 74 cases are from among the general population who have no significant travel history.

The ICU ward and the operation theatre of a private hospital in Imphal has been sealed after three nurses and an attendant were tested COVID-19 positive. The nurses were on duty at the ICU ward of the hospital, a source said.

The nurses and the attendant were shifted to a Covid care centre in Imphal, the source added.
