Manipur Governor Reviews IDP Rehabilitation, Skill Development Initiatives

Imphal, Feb 21: Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, chaired a review meeting with Chief Secretary, P.K. Singh, Commissioner (Home), N. Ashok Kumar, Secretary (Health), Sumant Singh, Commissioner Education (S), Gyan Prakash, Mercina R. Panmei, Joint Secretary and other senior officers at the conference hall of Manipur Secretariat (South Block) in Imphal today, a statement from the Raj Bhavan said today.

During the meeting, the Governor reviewed the overall budgetary allocations of various departments and rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) residing in various relief camps in the state.

Ajay Kumar Bhalla also enquired about the arrangements for imparting skill development training and the feasibility of employment opportunities in private sectors for the IDPs. The governor directed the officers to take steps for the implementation of Hunar Se Rojgar – a Government of India initiative under the Ministry of Tourism, for the youths in the state, especially for the IDPs.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gen. Vikas Lakhera, Director General, Assam Rifles also called on the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan, Imphal today. The Director General briefed the Governor on the operational and deployment activities of Assam Rifles in the region, the statement added.
