Manipur: Hiyanglam A/C intending candidate threatened with bomb

Miscreants planted a hand grenade at the gate of the residence of N Rojit Singh who is planning to contest the election from Hiyanglam Assembly constituency in Kakching district, police said.

Imphal: Unidentified persons continued to threaten intending candidates for the upcoming elections to the Manipur Legislative Assembly.

On Monday, miscreants planted a hand grenade at the gate of the residence of N Rojit Singh who is planning to contest the election from Hiyanglam Assembly constituency in Kakching district, police said.

Reports said that the grenade was found today around 3.30 pm.

On being informed, a team of Kakching police along with personnel of the Manipur Police Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad rushed to the spot and defused the same safely.

A few days ago, miscreants had planted a bomb at the gate of the residence of an intending candidate in Keirao Assembly constituency in Imphal East district.

The 60-seat Manipur Legislative Assembly will go to poll by the early part of next year, most probably in February and March.
