Manipur logs 26 new COVID-19 cases, one death

Imphal: Manipur on Thursday reported 26 new cases of COVID-19 and one death, taking the infection tally to 1,39,472 and fatality toll to 2,141.

As per the latest COVID-19 status update of the IDSP, the 26 fresh cases were detected upon testing of 745 samples in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate of the day was 3.5%.

Ten fresh cases were reported in Imphal West, followed by six in Imphal east.

Churachandpur reported six new cases, two each in Bishnupur, Thoubal and Ukhrul and one case in Chandel district.

The death was reported in Imphal West district. The deceased was vaccinated with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, the COVID-19 Common Control Room of the state said in its latest health bulletin.

The state has currently 226 active cases as 42 patients were discharged upon recovery on the day against the 26 fresh cases. The recovery tally rose to 1,37,105 while the recovery rate once again improved to 98.30%. It declined to 98.29% on the previous day.

Meanwhile, with 3,099 more people vaccinated on Wednesday, as many as 31,38,966 doses of COVID-19 have been administered in the state so far.

In the state, out of 16,22,815 people who were vaccinated with the first dose, so far 12,93,294 of them had taken the second dose. Another 2,22,857 people have also taken the precautionary dose of the vaccine, the health bulletin said.
