Manipur logs 29 new COVID-19 cases

Imphal: Twenty-nine fresh cases reported on Monday took the COVID-19 infection tally in Manipur to 1,39,377 while the fatality toll remained unchanged at 2,138 with no death link to the virus reported during the day.

The latest official bulletin of the state health department said 29 new cases were detected upon testing of 339 samples in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate of the day was 8.6%.

The fresh cases were reported in 10 out of 16 districts of the state and Imphal West reported eight cases to remain on top among the districts in daily tally.

Seven new cases were reported in Imphal East, three cases each in Kakching and Pherzawl districts, two cases each in Chandel, and Senapati while one case each reported in Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Tengnoupal and Thoubal districts, the bulletin said.

As many as 40 patients were discharged upon recovery on the day, taking the recovery tally of the state to 1,36,995. The recovery rate improved to 98.29%.

The state has currently 244 active cases, the bulletin said.

Meanwhile, only 83 people were vaccinated on Sunday in the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination drive, taking the total number of doses so far administered in the state to 31,32,811.

In the state, out of 16,22,068 people who were vaccinated with the first dose, 12,92,364 of them got the second dose. Another 2,18,379 of them also took the precautionary dose so far, the health bulletin added.
