Manipur logs 51 new COVID-19 cases, three deaths

No fresh case of COVID-19 was reported in as many as 11 out of 16 districts of Manipur as the state reported 57 cases of the disease and three deaths on Friday.

The 57 new cases took the overall infection count of the state to 1,24,757 while the death toll to 1,959, adding the three fresh deaths in the last 24 hours, state Health department said, in its bulletin updated at 5 pm on Friday.
As many as 50 patients were discharged upon recovery to take the overall recovery count of the state since the first case of the viral disease reported in March last year to 1,22,210.

The state has 588 active cases 37 in home isolation currently and the recovery rate of the state stood at 97.96%.

The positivity rate of the day was 3.2% as the fresh cases were detected upon testing of 1,778 samples in the last 24 hours. As many as 13,99,861 samples have been tested for the viral disease in the state so far.

The State Level Covid-19 Death Audit Committee confirmed three fresh deaths in the last 24 hours in the state. They were from Imphal West, Kakching and Chandel. All of them had comorbidities and none of them had vaccinated against COVID-19, the Health department claimed.

Of the 51 fresh cases, a maximum of 41 cases were reported in Imphal West, the worst affected district of the state while 12 of them reported in Imphal East, the second worst affected district.

Bishnupur reported two new cases while one each in Chandel and Kamjong districts.
Zero new cases reported in the remaining 11 districts of the state.

Meanwhile, the cumulative number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in the state rose to 20,90,419 with 6,246 people being inoculated on Thursday.

Of these total, 12,67,217 were first doses while the remaining 8,23,202 second doses, the Health department said.
