Nagaland Cross Country Championship takes place today at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima

The event was flagged off by Abu Metha, Vice president of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) in the presence of Stanley Jones, Chairman of AFI Technical Committee and President of Telangana Athletic Association and Sambhudas Bandopadhaya, Technical Official, AFI. 

The event was participated by a huge number of more than 200 athletes from the various districts of Nagaland partaking in the competition.

in the senior men’s 10 km event, Nahtei N Wangnao came in first with a time of 35:57, followed by Cuvoto Medeo in second and Wede T Mero in the third place. The senior women’s 10 km saw Tsuchoi T come in first with a time of 43:55 followed by Songmo P and Peiheteile Esalung. 

The rest of the event results are as follows: – U20 boys (8km)


Taliyanger Ozukum – 32:08, Kughato Swu, Lhouvisalie Mere. Under 20 girls (6km) were Niansai T – 29:26, Vekholhulü, Calista Tungoe. Under 18 boys (6km) were; Muchiu – 23:20, Shosu Pohena, Ngonuyi Yhobu. Under 18 girls (4km) were; Vesatsülu Khesoh – 18:33, Chimmushe, Nirmala Rai. U16 boys (2km) includes; Kiutsu – 7:41, Yongwan Kahkok, Thejanguzo Pfukha. U16 girls (2km) were Neikethonuo Janet – 9:23, Imtisangla Kangshou and Khrotsho-u Tsuhah.

Winners from each category were awarded with cash prizes. Senior men and women walked away with Rs.20,000 for 1st prize, Rs. 15,000 for 2nd and Rs. 10,000 for 3rd. The rest of the cash prizes for the rest of the categories were Rs. 10,000 for 1st, Rs. 7,000 for 2nd and Rs. 5,000 for 3rd.
