Manipur logs 79 fresh COVID-19 cases, no deaths

Imphal: Manipur on Friday reported marginal decline in fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, at 79 as against 89 reported on the previous day.

However, the test positivity rate has risen marginally to 8.4 per cent, and the number of active cases also rose to 644.

No COVID-19 related death was reported in the last 24 hours, the latest bulletin of the Health department said.

With 62 patients recovering in the last 24 hours, the total number of recoveries has gone to 1,35,621. The recovery rate further declined to 98.00%.

As per the bulletin, Imphal West reported 34 fresh cases, 23 in Imphal East, five each in Bishnupur and Thoubal, three in Kakching, two each in Kangpokpi, Noney and Ukhrul. 
One case each was reported in Chandel, Kamjong and Tamenglong.

The 79 fresh cases reported on the day took the infection tally of the state to 1,38,389 while the fatality toll remained unchanged at 2,124. Meanwhile, as many as 8,842 people took the jabs on Thursday to take the doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered so far in the state to 30,50,919.

Of the 16,06,824 people who took the first dose of the vaccine, 12,78,032 of them had taken the second dose. As many as 1,66,063 people have also taken the precautionary dose of the vaccine so far, the Health department said.
