PNU to support the proposed ‘Naga Solidarity Walk,’ appeals all to join

Senapati: In a press release issued by the Poumai Naga Union (PNU), the Office of Poumai Naga Union (PNU) fully support and declared to endorse the proposed Naga Solidarity Walk slated for July 28-29, 2022 organised by Global Naga Forum on the theme “One People, One Destiny.” The release mentioned that they welcome the movement which is based on “Inclusivity, non-partisan, bridging of physical and emotional integration, strengthening of brotherhood and oneness.” 

It added, “When we retrospect the journey of Naga freedom movement history, we could see that due to lack of unity, our enemies had attacked and destroyed our legitimate freedom. We realised that since the inception of our freedom movement, there were myriad ups and downs, sacrifices and betrayals, unity and divisions, integration and fragmentation, the courageous warriors and coward nationalist, and we have come this far due to God’s protection and promised. We salute to those who stood for Nagas freedom by blood and sweat. The time has come for us to accept the reality, i.e. Unity is the best strength to defend our rights. This Solidarity Walk should be a wakeup call to every Nagas to march forward with clear conscience of love, peace and truth.”

The Poumai Naga Union also appeals and urges every Naga across the globe to participate in the noble cause and it our humble prayer that this platform would create an epicenter of togetherness to fight for one’s birth rights.

Dailord Pao, President, Poumai Naga Union also appeals to all the Poumai Villages Chairmen, Secretaries, Headmen, Women Chairpersons, Secretaries, Youth and Students Organizations Presidents and Secretaries, all the leaders of various organisations, social activists, politicians, religious leaders, students, and well-wishers to attend the Solidarity Walk on the aforementioned dates.

In response to the call of the historic movement, the PNU further appeals to all the Poumai to join the Solidarity Walk and contribute their physical presence calling it as an opportune time to show the solid commitment to stand and fight for one’s rights and freedom, encourage one another by strength of unity, to be the torchbearers, guide, mentors and caretakers in achieving the desired goals. 
“We strongly believe that a new era of brotherhood and oneness will be forged by this solidarity Walk. Togetherness is our best weapon to fight for our rights and freedom,” it added.

Mention may be made that Co-ordination committee had earlier informed that the Naga Solidarity Walk would begin from Kohima on July 28 and cross Angami, Mao, Maram, and Poumai territories, before converging at Tahamzam (Senapati) on July 29. It added that the event would be co-ordinated by the Global Naga Forum, All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur, Angami Students’ Union, Arunachal Naga Students’ Federation, Eastern Naga Students’ Association, Rengma Naga People’s Council, and Western Rengma Students’ Union Nagaland.
