Manipur logs 8 deaths, 527 new cases

Manipur’s COVID-19 infection tally crossed 64,000-mark after the state recorded 527 fresh cases of the disease in the past 24 hours. The state also reported 8 more patients expired due to COVID-19 related complications in the same period. With this update, Manipur’s COVID-19 related death cases have reached 1047, according to the Health department.

The Health department said 527 persons were confirmed as new COVID-19 cases as results of 4491 samples received.

As per a release of the COVID-19 Common Control Room, 169 fresh infections reported were from Imphal West district, 78 from Imphal East and 66 from Bishnupur district  as the top three highest daily new positive cases among the districts in Manipur.

Even though Thoubal, Kakching and Churachandpur districts reported higher number of fresh infections with 62, 51 and 45 respectively, other districts have less number compared to these districts. Chandel and Tengloupal reported 3 each, 10 in Ukhrul, 9 in Tamenglong, 1 each in Noney and Kamjong, 7 in Jiribam, 20 in Kangpokpi and 2 in Senapati.

Of the 8 fresh deaths reported in the last 24 hours, 2 each were from Imphal East and Thoubal and and the remaining 1 each in Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Imphal West and Kakching district.
