Manipur logs single digit deaths, 785 new cases

Manipur’s COVID-19 infection tally crossed 61,000-mark after the state recorded 785 fresh cases of the disease in the past 24 hours. The state also reported 8 more patients expired due to COVID-19 related complications in the same period. With this update, Manipur’s COVID-19 related death cases have reached 988, according to the Health department.

The Health department said 785 persons were confirmed as new COVID-19 cases as results of 8074 samples received.

As per a release of the COVID-19 Common Control Room, of the 309 fresh infections reported were from Imphal West district, 115 from Imphal East and 77 from Churachandpur district.

Even though Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching and Jiribam districts reported higher number of fresh infections with 62, 62, 52 and 34 respectively, other districts have less number compared to these districts.

Of the 8 fresh deaths reported in the last 24 hours, one each were from Imphal East, Chandel, Kakching and Kangpokpi and the remaining four were from Imphal West district alone.
