Thoubal: Two persons have been arrested in connection with the murder case of Bharatiya Janata Party leader, Laishram Rameshwor Singh of Thoubal district on Tuesday, police said.
While the first arrested accused is a 20-year-old, Naorem Ricky Pointing Singh, alias, Amu, driver of the deceased, driving Mahindra XUV 300, the main accused, 46-year-old, Ayekpam Keshorjit of Haobam Marak Irom Leikai Imphal West surrendered before Inspector P Achouba Meitei, OC/ Commando Imphal West, police said.

A licensed pistol suspected to be used in Singh’s killing, a .32 pistol with two magazines and nine .32 calibre bullets, one mobile handset, Samsung A70 belonging to the accused are seized, police said.
Earlier, Thoubal Superintendent of Police Haobijam Jogeshchandra said that one empty case of .32 pistol calibre bullet was recovered from the spot.
SP Thoubal had said that search for the prime accused, identified as Ayekpam Keshorjit was underway for further investigations earlier today.

No possible motive behind the killing is ascertained at the time of filing this report.
Laishram Rameshwor Singh, who was the state BJP convenor of ex-servicemen cell was shot dead near his residence in Kshetri Leikai area on Tuesday around 11 am.
The 50-year-old Singh, who received bullets in his chest was rushed to Raj Medicity hospital in Imphal. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
