Manipur: Miscreants shot dead BJP leader in Thoubal district

Thoubal: Unidentified gunmen shot dead a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Laishram Rameshwor Singh in Manipur’s Thoubal district on Tuesday morning.

As per police sources, Singh, who is the state BJP convenor of ex-servicemen cell, was shot dead near his residence in Kshetri Leikai area. The incident took place at around 11 am, it said.

The 50-year-old Singh, who received bullets in his chest was rushed to Raj Medicity hospital in Imphal. However, he succumbed to his injuries.

So far, no person or organisation has claimed responsibility behind the attack.

Strongly condemning the inhumane act, BJP Manipur said “Anguished to lead about the murder of L. Rameshwor Singh, State Convenor of Ed-Servicemen Cell. We strongly condemned the inhumane act. The perpetrators of this heinous crime must be brought to justice & punished accordingly. We have lost a dedicated karyakarta.”
