Manipur nearing 3000 mark with 89 new COVID-19 cases

UT News Service | IMPHAL, Aug 3: 89 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported in Manipur in the past 24 hours. This includes five personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF). Official sources in the state Health department on Monday said that 84 persons from the general population were tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours.

80 of the new infected were found to have no significant travel history and the remaining four are returnees from other states, a statement of the COVID-19 Common Control Room said. Fifty-one of the locally contacted cases are from Imphal West district, 28 from Thoubal district and one from Bishnupur district, it added.

As of Monday the cumulative number of positive cases of COVID-19 in the state is 2920. Of them, 1147 are active cases and 1766 are recovered cases.

On the upside, a total of 29 patients were discharged after they were recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate in the state stands at 60.47 percent, the Health department report said.
