COVID Care Centre Inaugurated in Manipur

UT News Service | IMPHAL, August 3: Chief Minister N Biren Singh along with Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar and Health Minister L Jayantakumar today inaugurated and operationalised the new 300 bedded Covid Care Centre at Manipur Trade & Expo Centre, Lamboikhongnangkhong, Imphal West District.

The state Chief Minister took to social media from his Facebook handle and appealed the people of Manipur, saying, “People’s support is of immense importance at this difficult time in tackling the pandemic. I appeal to my people to please come out openly for early treatment instead of concealing their COVID-19 status if tested positive”.

The new COVID Care Centre as of now have 300 beds. This can be be further upgraded to a 1000 bedded facility. The Trade & Expo Centre, Lamboikhongnangkhong has enough capacity for the extension if necessary. Briefing the media persons on the occasion, Biren Singh appreciated the Health Department and other officials for setting up the Covid Care Centre so that infected people can get timely treatment. He further stated that there is evidence of local transmission of COVID-19.  “However, there is no community transmission of the disease in the State”.

COVID Care Centre is established in view of the surging number of COVID-19 patients in the state. The numbers of active and recovered cases of COVID-19 in the state till Sunday evening was at 1087 and 1737 respectively and the recovery rate was 61.07%.
