IMPHAL: Manipur’s Sepak Takraw representatives – a referee and a player – departed for Japan on January 29 to participate in the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Games to be held from January 30. The Indian contingent includes Waikhom Jiten Singh, president of the All Manipur Sepak Takraw Association (AMSTA), as referee, and S. Malemnganba as the player, joining 8 other members from across India.
The Indian contingent departed from New Delhi on Thursday night for Nagoya, Japan, and is scheduled to return on February 3.
As per official instructions, the selected referee had reported in New Delhi on January 27 to complete the required formalities.
On the occasion, AMSTA general secretary Ch. Geskant extended heartfelt best wishes to both the player and the referee. He stated that their selection for an international assignment is a proud moment for Manipur Sepak Takraw and reflects the dedication and consistent efforts of athletes and officials from the state. Geskant expressed confidence that they will uphold the honour of Manipur and India through their performance and professionalism in Japan.
The Manipur Sepak Takraw association and the entire Sepak Takraw fraternity of the state have wished them success for the prestigious international assignment.
