Manipur Police Arrest Two Arambai Tenggol Members, Case Registered

Ukhrul: The Manipur Police have arrested two individuals in Nambul Mapal, Paona Bazar in the capital city of Imphal on Wednesday.

According to Manipur Police, the arrested are identified as Kangabam Lenin Singh (43) and Toijam Shantikishore (50), both affiliated with the Arambai Tenggol group, were apprehended in a late-night operation.

While a case has been registered against the arrested individuals, and further investigation and legal action are underway, Manipur Police said that One INSAS Rifle with a magazine and 16 live rounds of ammunition, One .38 pistol with a magazine and 3 live rounds of ammunition, One Maruti Gypsy vehicle were recovered from their possession.

In a separate operation, security forces conducted a successful raid early Tuesday morning around 4:30 AM in Hengjol village, falling under the New Keithelmanbi Police Station jurisdiction in Kangpokpi District. The operation, involving units from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Assam Rifles, and state security forces, led to the apprehension of three suspected Kuki militants. During this raid, the team seized: Three AK-series weapons, Bulletproof jackets, Live ammunition, Mobile phones, Various incriminating documents. The raid was supported by multiple CRPF units including 32, 69, 86, 109, 143, and GC-QAT, alongside Assam Rifles and state security personnel.

Additionally, the Assam Rifles reported a successful Joint Combing and Search Operation conducted in Phaithol village of Tamenglong district and surrounding areas of Jiribam district on Monday. This extensive operation resulted in apprehension of two individuals who were handed over to local Police for further action. A large cache of weapons and war-like stores, including: 303 Rifles, Single Barrel Rifles, 9mm Pistols, Pompy Guns, Various other stores and equipment were also recovered, as per Assam Rifles.
