Manipur police nab two PLA cadres with small arm

Imphal: Manipur police commandos have arrested two active cadres of the People Liberation Army (PLA), the armed wing of rebel group, Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF), police said on Tuesday.

A 9 mm pistol, one car (Maruti Alto) and two mobile phones were seized from their possessions, the police added.

The nabbed cadres were identified as Leishangthem Khomei Singh (53) of Imphal East district and Khangmebam Sanjoy Singh @ Athoi @ Pambei (28) of Bishnupur district.

A team of Imphal East district police commandos who were on a random frisking and checking operation on the main road at Takhel village under Lamlai police station of Imphal East district intercepted the two cadres on Monday evening, around 4:30 pm, the police also said.

The police alleged that the arrested cadres joined the said outfit through one self-styled captain Hemba of RPF/PLA and presently working under his command.

They came to the Takhel village to organize a place/residence for shelter of the cadres of the outfit on the advice of their commander Hemba, the police further alleged.

The arrested cadres along with the seized items were handed over to Lamlai police station for taking up further necessary legal action against them, the police further added.
