Kakching: In an effort to neutralize drug menace in Manipur and campaign on ‘War On Drugs’, Kaching police at around 2 pm Thursday in a joint operation detected and seized 232 grams of suspected Heroin (no. 4) powder.
The seizure was led by teams of Commando Unit, Kakching police, led by Havaldar N. Chaoba Singh of CDO Unit Kakching along with Jem. Subashchandra Singh under the command of Inspt. Md Abash Khan, OC/CDO Unit, Kakching and under the supervision of Binoy Chongtham, MPS Addl. SP (Ops) Kakching, and under the overall Supervision of Shrey Vats, IPS, Superintendent of Police Kakching, conducted frisking and checking at Pallel CDO Check-Post at Leimanai Chingjin in order to detect movement of anti-social element and transportation of illegal items.
According to police report, one EECO van (Grey in colour) vehicle bearing registration No. MN06LB-6576 coming from Pallel side was given a signal to stop for checking, but the said vehicle tried to escape the check point by speeding the vehicle. However, the CDO teams managed to stop the vehicle at a short distance from the check-post.
Police report said that the vehicle had one occupant only who was the driver. He was behaving in suspicious manner and was detained for verification. He identified himself as H. Thangminlen Khongsai (30) S/o H. Paokam Khongsai of New Songjang Khenjoy, Songjang Chandel. The driver along with the said vehicle was searched after observing legal formalities. The vehicle was examined and it was noticed that 20 (Twenty) soap cases containing suspected (Heroin No.4) powder were kept below the rear seat of the vehicle. The accused was arrested by observing all formalities. On weighing, the suspected Heroin (No.4) powder was found to weigh approximately 232 grams (in total). It is estimated that the seized contraband items are worth approximately Rs. 4.64 lakhs in domestic market and Rs. 46.4 lakhs in the International Market respectively.
The arrested person along with the seized articles is handed over to OC, Kakching police Station for taking up further necessary legal action, police report said.
In another interception by Kakching police on March 21, 1.058 kg (1058 grams) of suspected Heroin no. 4 and 30,000 tablets suspected to be WY tablets weighing 3.366 kgs was detected by a CDO team of Kakching police.
According to police report, the contraband items were seized around 11.30 am by teams of Commando Unit, Kakching led by HC K. Starson Tarao along with SI L. Rocky Singh and Constable Yumnam Ayingbi Devi under the command of Inspt. Md Abash Khan, OC/CDO Unit, Kakching conducted frisking and checking at Heikakpokpi in order to detect movement of anti-social element and transportation of illegal items. One Bolero (black in colour) bearing registration No. NL08-2061 coming from Pallel side was given a signal to stop for checking, but the said vehicle tried to escape the check point by speeding the vehicle. However, the CDO teams managed to stop the Bolero at Kakching Lamkhai.
The vehicle had two occupants who were behaving in suspicious manner and were detained for verification. They identified themselves as 1) Thangminlun Mate (24) S/o Doungam Mate of Moreh Chikim Village, Tengnoupal and 2) M. Hoineithing Haokip (38) W/o M. Jangminlen Haokip, Moreh ward No.VIII,Ngamkai Veng, Tengnoupal, police report said.
The report also added that the two persons along with the said vehicle was searched after observing legal formalities. The vehicle was examined and it was noticed that the fuel tank of the vehicle was modified and partitioned. With the help of a mechanic, the fuel tank was examined and inside it 55(Fifty five) soap cases containing suspected Heroin No.4 powder, one white transparent polythene containing suspected Heroine No.4 powder and three (3) bundles wrapped in brown colour polythene suspected to be WY (Metamphetamine) tablets were detected. The accused were arrested by observing all formalities. On weighing, the suspected Heroin No.4 powder was found to weigh approximately 1.058 kilograms (in total) and the suspected WY tablets were found to weigh approximately 3.366 kilograms (in total) respectively. It is estimated that the seized contraband items are worth approximately Rs. 51.16 lakhs in domestic market and Rs. 5.1 crores in the International Market respectively.
The arrested person along with the seized articles were handed over to OC, Kakching police station for taking up further necessary legal action.
