Manipur: Police team posted at Moreh caught with large quantity of drugs

Imphal: A team of Manipur police posted at Moreh were caught with huge consignment of narcotic items by another law enforcement team in Kakching district on Monday morning.

In a press conference, Superintendent of Police, Kakching Shrey Vats said that based on inputs, the operation was carried out at Pallel check post along the NH 103 and recovered the narcotic items from the commando unit vehicle coming from Moreh.

From the vehicle, 100 soap cases of containing suspected Heroin No 4 powder and eight bundles of WY tablets with each bundle containing approximately 10,000 tablets. The seized items were weighing 1.336 kilogram of suspected Heroin No.4 powder and 9.151 kilogram of suspected WY tablets, the SP said.

“The seized was done from commando unit of Kakching posted at border town Moreh. The team were on under orders of posting to Special commando unit at Khabeisoi,” said SP Vats.

The arrested police has been identified as Havildar Kh. Achouba Singh, Rifleman Th Subhash Chothe, Y Dineshwar Meitei, Rifleman M Premchandra Singh and Rilfeman N Dorendrajit Singh.

The arrested police personnel along with seized items have been handed over to Kakching police station for further legal action.

While giving a stern warning, SP Vats further appealed those involved in such illegal activities to stop 

“We are not going to spare anybody carrying drugs or doing business on drugs,” added the SP.
