Manipur records one COVID-19 death case after 44 days

After a gap of almost one and a half month, Manipur reported one death related to COVID-19 on Wednesday, taking the fatality tally to 374.

The latest victim was a 70-year-old man from Churachandpur district. He expired at Shija hospital, Imphal, said the daily update report of the state Health department.

Manipur recorded no death since February 8 last.

Meanwhile, 10 fresh cases of the disease reported on Wednesday took the infection tally of COVID-19 in the state to 29,362.

The 10 fresh cases were found while testing of 901 samples in the past 24 hours (till 4pm of March 24). The state has tested 5,71,447 samples till date.

As no patient was discharged upon recovery on Wednesday, the recovery tally remained at 28,935 even as the active case rose to 53. The recovery rate of the state declined to 98.54%.

On the other hand, with 1,056 more people vaccinated on Wednesday, the cumulative number of people vaccinated against COVID-19 in the state reached 83,092. The vaccinated people included 31,228 healthcare workers, the state Health department said.
