Manipur reports 12 new COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours

The number of Manipur’s COVID-19 cases has surged to 29,447 after 12 more fresh cases of the disease were recorded on Wednesday.

As no recovery was registered in the past 24 hours, the recovered cases remained at 28,998, leading to increasing the number of active cases to 75 and dipping the recovery rate to 98.47%, state Health department stated in its latest update report.

The report showed seven of the 12 fresh cases from the general populace and the rest five from the Central security forces. The fresh cases from the general populace are two each from Imphal West and Thoubal district, one each from Imphal East, Churachandpur and Ukhrul districts.

As there was no report of death due to the viral disease, the fatality tally remained at 374.

Meanwhile, the number of people vaccinated against COVID-19 in the state rose to 89,590 as 948 people were vaccinated on Tuesday. The vaccine recipients included 31,744 healthcare workers.
