Manipur Sangai Festival 2022 Curtain Raiser at Mao Gate, Senapati

Senapati, 15 Nov: Esii-Dziiko Trekking Route at Dziiko Base camp was inaugurated by Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh, Minister, Health & FW, DIPR, Manipur as the chief guest. The program was held in the presence of L. Susindro Meitei, Minister, PHED, CAF & PD, Manipur, L. Dikho, MLA, 48-Mao AC, J. Kumo Sha, MLA, 47-Karong AC, Health Director, State Health Mission Director, DC, Senapati, SDOs and other DLOs.

The Sangai Marathon Run was flagged off at Martyrs Park, near NH-2 where reception was done at Cherry Blossom Festival venue. More than 200 runners took part in the marathon.

Speaking at the Manipur Sangai Festival Curtain Raising ceremony, L. Susindro Meitei, Minister, PHED, CAF & PD stated lauded the Mao citizens for living in the border and giving protection to the whole citizens of the state. PHED Minister expressed gladness to have inaugurated the Trekking Route to Dziiko which the trekkers in earlier times used some robe to climb the steep hill travelling from Mao. The Minister regretted that had the state Govt intervened earlier than this, route to Dziiko valley could have developed by now.

The minister also urged upon the Mao citizens, CSOs and different organizations to encourage learning Manipuri language and speak at Mao as belonged to Manipur.

To grow up and develop together inclusive of both hill and valley is the ideology of the state CM. With this aim, state Sangai Festival will be organised at Mao, Behiang, Churachandpur and Imphal this year and that’s why, 2 ministers including local MLAs came for curtain raising program at Mao, he said. The minister also urged upon all to plant more cherry trees to make the place more beautiful and attract more tourists in future.

Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh, Minister, Health & FW and DIPR in his speech stated that Manipur can become a very popular tourist hotspot as tourists visiting different places in the state are found ever increasing. The minister mentioned that people need to spread the message of beauty of cherry blossom and how the state CM has planned to conduct the cherry blossom festival during state Sangai Festival and that was the reason why Manipur Sangai Festival Curtain Raiser program was organised at Mao. While the festival is celebrated at different places, the minister urged upon all to take the usefulness of the festivity. During this festival, people’ hospitality, culture and talent were displayed.

The later part of the program followed with Health & Fitness dance, Fitness trial and other festival outdoor games.
