Manipur’s COVID-19 caseload surges to 29204

Manipur recorded a spike of eight new COVID-19 cases on Monday, taking the total coronavirus tally to 29,204.

As no one succumbed to the coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, the fatality tally remained at 373, the state Health department said, in its daily update.

Of the total infection tally, the number of active coronavirus cases in the state is 76 while 28,755 patients have recovered from the infection and been discharged. 

In the last 24 hours, seven patients have recovered from the infectious disease. The recovery rate was 98.46%.

Of the eight fresh cases reported in the last 24 hours, four were from Imphal West district and the rest one each from Imphal East, Bishnupur, Kakching and Chandel district.

The eight cases were detected during testing of 1,199 samples in the past 24 hours. The total number of samples tested in the state was 5,25,045.

All necessary precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing were in place, the health department said.

Meanwhile, the number of people vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccine in the state reached 25,359 with 2,930 people inoculated on Monday.

The total number included 21,004 healthcare workers who were priority beneficiaries of the first phase of the COVID-19 immunisation drive in the state.
