Manipur’s COVID-19 infection surges to 29,183 with 17 new cases

A slight decline in the COVID-19 recovery rate in Manipur after 17 new positive cases were reported against seven recoveries in a span of 24 hours.

According to COVID-19 status update report of the state Health department, 17 fresh cases reported in the last 24 hours (till 5pm of February 13) took the COVID-19 infection tally of the state to 29,183 on Saturday.

The total infection tally included 28,744 recoveries as seven more persons diagnosed with the viral infection were discharged today after they were cured.

The state has only 66 active cases and the recovery rate stood at 98.49%.
The report said that the 17 fresh positive cases were detected during testing of 1,285 during the past 24 hours, taking the total number of samples tested in the state for the pandemic to 5,32,806.

The state reported no death due to COVID-19 today for the sixth consecutive day. As such the fatality tally stood at 373.

Meanwhile, the number of people immunised with COVID-19 vaccine in the state rose to 22,065 with 2,799 people vaccinated on Saturday.

Among the beneficiaries, 18,825 were healthcare workers who were the beneficiaries of the first phase of the vaccination drive that commenced on January 16 last.
