Manipur’s Dr. A. Santa Becomes First from NE to Simultaneously Hold Executive Director Posts at Two AIIMS

Imphal, May 9: Prof. (Dr.) Ahanthem Santa Singh from Manipur has marked a historic achievement by becoming the first person from Northeast India to hold the post of Executive Director at two All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) institutions located in two different states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana at the same time. Dr. Ahanthem Santa, who currently serves as the Executive Director of AIIMS Mangalagiri, has been entrusted with the additional charge of Executive Director of AIIMS Bibinagar by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. He officially assumed charge of his new post Friday. He is a highly respected senior academician and healthcare administrator, with an illustrious career spanning several decades. A specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology, Dr Santa has extensive expertise in maternal health, reproductive medicine, and gynaecological surgery.

Before his current appointment at AIIMS Mangalagiri, he served as the Director of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, where he played a pivotal role in advancing institutional development and enhancing healthcare delivery in the region. He also held important administrative and academic positions at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Shillong, where he made significant contributions to tertiary care services and postgraduate medical education.

Prof. (Dr.) Ahanthem Santa Singh is widely recognized for his leadership in medical education, healthcare policy, and institutional governance. His experience and vision are expected to further strengthen the development of AIIMS Bibinagar in alignment with the goals of the AIIMS network and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
