Nepal Stands with India After Pahalgam Attack

Agartala: In the wake of a deadly terrorist attack at Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir, India, that claimed the lives of 26 innocent people including a Nepali tourist, the Government of Nepal has voiced deep concern over rising tensions between India and Pakistan, reaffirming its solidarity with India and condemning terrorism in all forms.

In an official press release issued on May 8, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Nepal, stated, “The Government of Nepal is deeply concerned about the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, following the terrorist attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam, India on 22 April 2025 in which a Nepali national lost his precious life.”

The ministry highlighted the emotional and diplomatic closeness between the two neighbours during the tragic episode, stating, “During this tragic period, Nepal and India stood in solidarity, united in shared grief and suffering.”

Reaffirming its consistent and principled stand against terrorism, Nepal recalled that it had condemned the incident as soon as it occurred.

“It may be recalled that Nepal had immediately and unequivocally condemned the barbaric terrorist attack, consistent with its resolute stance against all forms of terrorism,” the statement said.

Standing firm with India and the global fight against extremism, Nepal added, “Nepal stands together with all in the fight against terrorism. In line with its principled position, Nepal shall not allow any inimical forces to use its soil against its neighbouring countries.”

The government of Nepal also urged for diplomatic calm and regional peace amid growing hostilities. “Nepal hopes for de-escalation of tension and affirms its commitment to lasting peace and stability in the region,” it said.
