Manipur’s first Meitei Pangal appointed as Ambassador of India to Lebanon

Imphal: Mohd. Noor Rahman Sheikh, Indian Foreign Service 2004 batch who is presently Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Lebanon.

Mohd. Noor Rahman Sheikh is the first from the Meitei Pangal community of Manipur state to have been assigned the foreign post. He is from Kshetrigao, Imphal East district.

According to Ministry of External Affairs press release on Monday, the newly appointed Ambassador is expected to take up the assignment shortly.
