Manipur BJP, NPP delegates meet Defence Minister Rajnath Singh; reiterates territorial integrity

New Delhi: A delegation of Manipur MLAs and Ministers led by Speaker, Manipur Legislative Assembly, Th Satyabrata Singh met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at his office at New Delhi on Monday.

The team led by Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Satyabarta that included Social Welfare minister H Dingo Singh among others left Imphal for New Delhi by a flight on June 16.

The 24-member delegation from Bharatiya Janata Party and National People’s Party (NPP) legislators pressed on three key demands to be considered and acted on priority include:

  1. Stop violence across the state and bring peaceful environment in the state for everyone to live together.
  2. Territorial Integrity of the State to be protected at all cost.
  3. Stringent action/measures to be taken up against insurgent groups who have violated ground rules on the State. Withdraw Suspension of Operation and bring the militants back at their designated camps.

The 24 member delegation include Rajya Sabha MP Maharaj Sanajaoba, State Minister Thounaojam Basanta Kumar, Govindas Konthoujam, Dr Sapam Ranjan, Heikham Dingo, L. Rameshore, K. Robindro, Th. Shyamkumar, Kh. Joykishan, RK Imo, Thangjam Arunkumar, Sapam Kunjakeswor, Kh. Ibomcha, S Kebi, S. Premchandra, Ashab Uddin, Md. Nasir, Irengbam Nalini, Sheikh Noorol Hasan, T. Robindro, Th. Santi K. Ibomcha, Loken Khuraijam, Th. Satyabrata.

Ministers and MLAs of trouble-torn Manipur continued to rush to New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other central leaders. The Congress MLAs led by former chief minister and opposition leader Okram Ibobi Singh reached New Delhi on Thursday, but have not been given appointment with the PM Modi.
