Manipur’s Haveine Samuel Wins Gold and Bronze Medals in National Karate Championship

Senapati: In a piece of overwhelming news that has thrilled her family, relatives, friends, and well-wishers, Senapati district is in awe of the stupendous performance of Haveine Samuel, who won gold and bronze medals in different categories at the recently concluded National Karate Championship held at Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi, Pune, Maharashtra.

Her outstanding performance at the national level not only brought laurels to the district but also earned her a berth to qualify for the prestigious South Asia Karate Championship 2024, scheduled for December 27–29 this year in Faridabad-Delhi. Her achievements are a clear manifestation of dedication, perseverance, and hard work.

The daughter of Samuel Hesho and Salome Samuel, Haveine Samuel hails from Maiba village in Senapati district. Currently residing in Pune, Maharashtra, she is pursuing a BBA in IT from Symbiosis College, Pune. She recently won gold in the Kumite (Fight) category and a bronze medal in the Kata (Display of fighting techniques) category at the VIII JKNSK India National Karate Championships, held on November 17.

It is worth mentioning that the South Asia Karate Championship 2024 will be organized by the Shito Ryu Karate School of India (SKSI), which is approved by the NKF Karate Do Federation of India (NKFI). The championship will take place at the Radisson Blu (5-Star Deluxe), near Bata Chowk Metro Station, Main Road, Faridabad-Delhi Border (NCR), India. The tournament aims at the all-around development and promotion of individuals and will be open only to those with full knowledge of karate rules. All participants must be members of SKSI.

The Naga Students’ Union, Pune, congratulated the young athlete, stating that her accomplishments have brought immense pride not only to her family but also to the Naga community. They added that her success is an inspiration to all. The students’ union in Pune extends its best wishes to her as she prepares to represent India on the international stage.
