Ukhrul, March 11: In a historic achievement for Indian badminton, Manipur’s star shuttler Priya Konjengbam has become the first player from Manipur and the entire Northeast region to qualify for the prestigious All England Badminton Championship 2025. This landmark accomplishment not only highlights Priya’s exceptional talent but also underscores the rising prominence of athletes from the region on the global stage.

Hailing from Moirang Phairembam Leikai in Manipur, Priya has been a trailblazer in Indian badminton. Her journey to the All England Championship is a testament to her dedication and hard work. Prior to this milestone, Priya played a pivotal role in India’s historic victory at the Asian Badminton Women’s Team Championship 2024, held in Malaysia from February 12 to 18. The Indian team, in a thrilling final, defeated Thailand 3-2 to claim the title for the first time in history. Priya’s contributions during the championship were instrumental in securing the victory, further cementing her reputation as one of India’s most promising badminton talents.
